Introduction to the Combined Configuration of UPU Ultrapure Water System and Milli-Q Ultrapure Water System

Table of Content [Hide]

Millipore, an American company, manufactures ultrapure water systems that can be divided into two main categories based on their source water: the combined series using tap water and the Milli-Q series (and Simplicity) using distilled water. Over 90% of the models installed and used in China are Milli-Q (and Simplicity) series products using distilled water (deionized water) as their source. Customers who have invested in Milli-Q ultrapure water systems still need to produce their own distilled water or purchase it externally, which is quite inconvenient.

Our company's UPT quantitative analysis ultrapure water system is adaptable to all tap water qualities in China, offering comprehensive solutions. Using tap water as the source, it simultaneously produces RO pure water (conductivity 1-5μs) and UP ultrapure water (resistivity 10-16 MΩ.cm). This not only meets the water needs of most experimental projects but can also serve as a pre-treatment water unit for Milli-Q (and Simplicity) models, forming a complete laboratory pure/ultrapure water preparation system. This combined system has the following significant advantages:

Simultaneous preparation of three types of pure water using tap water as the source, fully meeting the water needs of different experimental projects.

    Separate water

    Water quality

    Scope of application

    RO pure water

Electrical conductivity 1–5 μ/cm (can be monitored online)

    Used for rinsing utensils, etc.

    UP Ultrapure Water

    Resistivity 10–16 MΩ·cm

    (Online monitoring available)

Used for routine physicochemical analysis, plant and animal cell culture, and preparation of buffer solutions for instrumental analysis.

    Milli-Q Water

    Resistivity 18.2 MΩ·cm

    Heat source <0.001 EU/ml

    TOC < 5ppb

Used for highly sensitive molecular biology experiments such as IVF/DNA/RNA, which are particularly susceptible to water quality influences.

Compared to purchasing a complete Millipore system (Elix + Milli-Q) using tap water as the source, this combined configuration (UPT + Simplicity185) can reduce the purchase cost to below RMB 50,000.

Compared to using a standalone Milli-Q ultrapure water system, this combined configuration significantly reduces the water consumption of Milli-Q ultrapure water and the expensive costs of replacing Milli-Q purification columns and ultrafiltration columns.

Compared to the previous method of producing and purchasing distilled water, this configuration improves work efficiency, reduces labor intensity, and provides greater convenience for users.
