The Chinese Academy of Engineering Added 67 New Academicians, And Bill Gates Was Elected as a Foreign Academician

On November 27, the Chinese Academy of Engineering announced its newly elected 67 academicians. The election of foreign academicians was also conducted simultaneously, with 18 foreign experts elected as foreign academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, including Bill Gates.

Of the 67 newly elected academicians, 63 are male (94%) and 4 are female (6%). The youngest is 49 years old, the oldest is 67 years old, and the average age is 56.37 years old. 57 are 60 years old or younger (85%), and 10 are between 61 and 70 years old (15%), representing a significant increase in outstanding young and middle-aged engineering and technological experts.

Among the newly elected academicians, 31 are from universities (46.2%), 18 from research institutes (26.9%), and 18 from enterprises and hospitals (26.9%). Many are engineering and technological experts from enterprises and grassroots levels, as well as outstanding experts who have long worked in remote western regions such as Xinjiang and Gansu.
