Recently, the Tianjin Municipal Local Standard "Technical Specification for Construction and Operation of Online Dust Monitoring System" (DB12/T 725-2017) was officially released and will be implemented on June 1st. This standard is the first independently proposed and technically guiding recommended standard in my country's environmental monitoring field, filling a gap in domestic standards for dust monitoring.

The standard was drafted according to the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part 1: Structure and Drafting of Standards," proposed and managed by the Tianjin Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau, and compiled by the Tianjin Municipal Environmental Monitoring Center. The standard mainly applies to the construction and operation management of online monitoring systems for dust sources such as construction sites and unenclosed industrial bulk material storage yards. It focuses on specifying the composition and requirements of online dust monitoring systems, equipment installation at monitoring points, data acquisition, transmission, storage and processing, and system operation and maintenance management.

This standard, based on current national and Tianjin municipal laws, regulations, technical standards, and related documents, was finalized after careful study of online particulate matter monitoring technologies and methods at demolition sites, construction sites, underground railway construction sites, and unenclosed industrial bulk material storage yards. It fully considered the practical needs of dust pollution monitoring and comprehensively summarized the experience gained from pilot projects for online dust monitoring in Tianjin. The release and implementation of the Tianjin municipal standard "Technical Specifications for the Construction and Operation of Online Dust Monitoring Systems" (DB12/T 725-2017) will further strengthen online dust monitoring and provide important technical support for enhancing refined management and improving ambient air quality.
