During long-term operation, impurities inevitably accumulate on the surface of the reverse osmosis membrane in ultrapure water systems. When these impurities accumulate to a certain level, they will inevitably affect the operation of the ultrapure water system. So, what should be considered to prevent the growth of impurities in ultrapure water systems?
1. Regularly change the operating environment of the ultrapure water system to make it unsuitable for the growth of microorganisms. Currently, this is mainly achieved by changing the pH value of the influent to affect fungal growth, reduce reproduction rates, and even kill off bacteria.
2. Regularly add non-oxidizing bactericides. Extensive operational experience has proven that regularly adding non-oxidizing bactericides is the most effective way to control the growth of microorganisms in reverse osmosis systems. Given the current situation, it is recommended to add them weekly initially, and gradually extend the addition cycle after the system stabilizes.
3. Regularly perform chemical cleaning. It is recommended to purchase a dedicated reverse osmosis cleaning agent for regular reverse osmosis cleaning. After a period of operation, the substances trapped on the surface of the reverse osmosis membrane are difficult to remove by physical methods. Chemical cleaning can effectively remove the inorganic salts and organic microorganisms accumulated on the membrane surface, extending the membrane's lifespan and reducing overall production costs.
4. Regularly replace the security filter cartridge of the ultrapure water system. According to the security filter's user manual, it should be replaced when the pressure differential increases to 0.2 MPa. However, in actual production, it has been found that when the pressure differential rises above 0.05 MPa, the trapped impurities are already very high (the pressure differential was only 0.03 MPa when relevant personnel discovered foreign objects inside the security filter). Continuing to operate at this point may result in the trapped foreign objects entering the reverse osmosis system with the feed water, affecting its operation. Therefore, checking the security filter should be a regular part of the inspection process, and the filter cartridge should be replaced promptly if any problems are found.
