    Resin Contamination, Poisoning, and Activation

Ion exchange resins are susceptible to contamination from suspended solids, colloidal substances, organic matter, bacteria, and metals during long-term use, leading to a decrease in ion exchange capacity and even rendering them unusable. Therefore, targeted activation methods are employed depending on the specific circumstances. For general metal and colloidal contamination, activation can be achieved by soaking or rinsing with dilute acid. Other methods include sterilization and alternating acid-base treatment.
