Ministry of Environmental Protection: Will Expedite the Issuance of a Batch of Urgently Needed Environmental Quality Standards and Pollutant Emission Standards

At a regular press conference held by the Ministry of Environmental Protection on the 23rd, Zou Shoumin, Director of the Department of Science and Technology Standards of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, introduced the key tasks of the Ministry in implementing the "13th Five-Year Plan for the Development of National Environmental Protection Standards" during the 13th Five-Year Plan period. He stated that the Ministry will expedite the issuance of a batch of urgently needed environmental quality standards and pollutant emission standards.

Among these, the important environmental quality standards to be issued include standards for soil environmental quality of agricultural land and construction land, seawater quality standards, evaluation specifications for the ecological environment quality of nearshore sea areas, guidelines for evaluating air quality inside passenger vehicles, environmental noise standards around airports, and environmental vibration standards for urban areas. The important pollutant emission standards to be issued include emission standards for stationary sources such as pesticides, electronics, coatings, paints, dyes, livestock and poultry farming, integrated wastewater treatment, and integrated air pollution, as well as standards for mobile sources such as light and heavy vehicles (National VI emission standard), ship engines, motorcycles and mopeds (National IV emission standard), and non-road mobile machinery.
