Laboratory water quality standards are now extremely stringent. Ultrapure water, as a crucial reagent, directly impacts the accuracy of experimental results. How can we maintain optimal water quality? Here are some key points:
1. Avoid contact between ultrapure water and the environment. Ultrapure water is easily contaminated by the environment after collection. Therefore, it's best to collect water immediately before use. Only by minimizing the contact time between ultrapure water and the environment can extremely high purity water be obtained.
2. Do not store in storage containers for extended periods. When preparing high-purity chemical reagents, avoid using ultrapure water that has been stored in containers for a long time. After prolonged use, impurities and microorganisms can contaminate the water, causing it to deteriorate and cease to be ultrapure water for use.
3. Install air filters in ultrapure water storage containers. It's best to install air filters in ultrapure water storage containers to prevent contamination from environmental factors.
4. Avoid direct sunlight on ultrapure water. Do not place ultrapure water storage containers in direct sunlight, as this will increase the water temperature and promote microbial growth. Especially in semi-transparent storage tanks, sunlight penetration can cause algae growth.
5. Discard the initial water when taking water. Always discard the initial water output when taking ultrapure water to obtain stable water quality.
6. Let water flow along the side of the container. When taking water, allow the ultrapure water to flow along the side of the container, minimizing the formation of air bubbles to reduce air pollution.
7. Do not connect a hose to the terminal filter. Do not connect a hose after the terminal filter; direct water intake is necessary to obtain high-purity ultrapure water.
8. Drain all water from the tank when not using ultrapure water. When ultrapure water will not be used for an extended period, completely drain the RO water from the pressure storage tank to prevent contamination.
9. Drain the initial ultrapure water after a long period of inactivity. If the ultrapure water system will not be used for an extended period, thoroughly drain the initial ultrapure water before using it again to ensure water quality.
10. Keep the water purifier running at least once every 7-10 days. In principle, the water purifier should be run at least once every 7-10 days to prevent microbial contamination.
