In recent years, instruments have become one of the fastest-growing industries in my country's equipment manufacturing sector, and the market size of my country's instrument and meter industry has expanded rapidly. The demand for instruments and equipment in industries such as quality inspection, environmental protection, health, and agriculture has increased significantly, providing a huge market for the development of my country's instrument and meter industry. As the foundation of manufacturing, instruments have wide applications in various industries; therefore, the localization process of instruments has always been a matter of great concern to the country.

Accelerating Localization of Medical Devices

my country's medical device industry has grown rapidly from small to large, and is now a sunrise industry with relatively complete categories, continuously improving innovation capabilities, and strong market demand. With strong government policy support, the localization process of medical devices has accelerated, and the import substitution effect has become increasingly obvious. Recently, many listed medical device companies have successively disclosed their annual reports, revealing many highlights. Among them, the most obvious is the further acceleration of medical device localization, the increasingly obvious import substitution effect, and in some areas, even entering a stage of parallel development.

In the future, domestic medical device companies still need to focus on research and development, improve their technological strength, make up for shortcomings in after-sales service, and develop towards the production of high value-added products. Only in this way can the domestic medical device industry grow and thrive. Compared to developed countries in Europe and America, my country's per capita expenditure on medical devices is far lower. According to the aforementioned report, the market size ratio of pharmaceuticals to medical devices in my country is 4.3, while in developed countries and mature markets it is 2.0. Therefore, with economic development, increased disposable income, and deepening medical system reforms, the potential demand for medical devices will continue to be released, presenting a significant development opportunity for domestic enterprises.

Accelerating the Localization of Marine Instruments

In recent years, the marine economy has received considerable attention and has benefited from the national strategy of upgrading its marine economy, occupying an important position in the economy. However, despite the strong momentum and widespread popularity of the marine economy, the development of marine instruments has encountered numerous difficulties, making its development somewhat challenging.

Despite the many difficulties encountered in the development of marine instruments, the potential is great. Currently, my country has included marine instruments as an important part of the 863 Program, and more than a dozen units have applied for marine instrument projects. Coupled with the integration of industry, academia, and research, it is believed that the localization process of marine instruments in my country will accelerate and truly match the speed of marine economic development.

Localization of Key Oil and Gas Pipeline Equipment Accelerates

From June 14th to 15th, eight flow meters of four specifications from three domestic manufacturers passed on-site acceptance testing during industrial trials, marking a further acceleration in the localization process of key oil and gas pipeline equipment for China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC).

The localization of oil and gas pipeline flow meters is an important component of CNPC's major science and technology project launched in 2013, focusing on the localization of key oil and gas pipeline equipment. This acceptance test represents a new advancement in oil and gas pipeline metering devices, following breakthroughs in the localization of other key equipment such as pipe materials. This lays a solid foundation for achieving 100% localization of key oil and gas pipeline equipment by the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan period.

While domestically produced instruments are continuously improving, they have faced considerable skepticism due to long-standing prejudices. Overcoming this challenge requires Chinese companies to uphold quality and dedicate themselves to rigorous research. Over the next decade, my country's intelligent manufacturing equipment (including multi-purpose calorific value measuring instruments) industry will experience a strategic opportunity for development. Instrument manufacturers should seize this opportunity to meet the needs of traditional industry transformation and upgrading and strategic emerging industry development. They should integrate advanced manufacturing, information and intelligent technologies to address the perception, analysis, decision-making, control and execution aspects of the manufacturing process, thereby achieving automation, intelligence, lean manufacturing and green manufacturing.
