The electrodialyzer uses the selective permeability of the ion exchange membrane to work. The main component of the electrodialyzer is the ion exchange membrane. Divided into positive film and negative film. The cation membrane only allows cations to pass through and anions are blocked; the anion membrane only allows anions to pass through and cations are blocked. Under the action of an external electric field, ions in the water undergo directional migration, with cations moving toward the negative electrode and anions moving toward the positive electrode. When the ions reach the membrane surface, due to the selective permeability of the ion exchange membrane, in compartments 1, 3, and 5, anions and cations migrate through the anion and cation membranes respectively, and the water is desalinated. In compartments 2, 4, and 6, ions are blocked from being able to migrate out, and ions migrate in from adjacent compartments, and the water is concentrated. In this way, part of the water is desalted and part of the water is concentrated. Only polar water passes through the polar chamber of the electrode, and polar water participates in the electrode reaction. An oxidation reaction occurs at the anode, and a reduction reaction occurs at the cathode. The anode is acidic and the cathode is alkaline. At the same time, electrode reactants are produced. The water in the electrodialyzer should be smooth so that the reactants can be discharged.
