During the long holiday, all units will be on vacation, and ultrapure water system laboratories will also be shut down for a period of time. To ensure the normal operation of the ultrapure water system laboratory after the holiday, we need to take some maintenance measures. Below, we will explain in detail how to maintain the ultrapure water system laboratory during the shutdown period.
The specific steps for long-term shutdown maintenance of the ultrapure water system are as follows:
1. First, clean the membrane elements in the reverse osmosis system;
2. Prepare a disinfectant solution using water produced by reverse osmosis and flush the reverse osmosis system with the disinfectant solution;
3. After filling the reverse osmosis system with the disinfectant solution, close the relevant valves to retain the disinfectant solution in the system. At this time, ensure the system is completely filled;
4. If the system temperature is below 27℃, perform the first two steps with a new disinfectant solution every month. If the system temperature is above 27℃, replace the disinfectant solution every half month;
5. Before restarting the single-stage reverse osmosis pure water system, flush the system with low-pressure feed water for one hour, and then flush the system with high-pressure feed water for 5 minutes. Whether flushing with low pressure or high pressure, the system's product water discharge valve should be fully opened. Before restoring the system to normal operation, check and confirm that the product's water does not contain any bactericides.
Friendly Reminder: Even during short-term shutdowns, water purifiers require maintenance. Improper handling can lead to irreversible membrane degradation.
If the pure water or ultrapure water system is shut down for an extended period due to laboratory renovations or prolonged closure, certain measures must be taken to ensure future normal operation.
If the shutdown period is 1 week to 10 days, and the power and water supply are unaffected, the system can remain operational to continue providing stable purified water. If plumbing work is being carried out, the system must be completely shut down. In this case, the ultrapure water system's water supply switch and power should be turned off, and the connection to the water supply should be disconnected. The pure water in the tank, which will deteriorate due to prolonged stagnation, must be completely drained.
After the shutdown period, when restarting the system, especially after plumbing repairs, be aware that the supply water may contain contaminants. Therefore, first fully drain the water from the water supply tap to stabilize the water quality before turning on the inlet switch connected to the system. This procedure prevents a large amount of contaminants from entering the system. If the system still fails to operate normally after taking the aforementioned countermeasures, this may be due to blockage of various purification columns and filter membranes during the shutdown period. Therefore, the problematic parts should be replaced.
Special Note: To prevent improper operation or maintenance from causing the laboratory ultrapure water system to fail to meet water quality standards upon restarting, the effluent water quality must be tested upon the first startup after shutdown to ensure it meets standards. Using substandard water in experimental analysis could lead to serious consequences.
