What Problems Can Occur if the Pressure in an Ultrapure Water System Is Too High?

    Ultrapure water equipment consists of a reverse osmosis system and an EDI system. Both systems require pressurization to operate, and each has specific pressure requirements, especially the reverse osmosis system. Excessive pressure can damage the equipment. So, what problems arise from excessive pressure in ultrapure water equipment?


    The reverse osmosis system of an ultrapure water system typically requires a pressure between 0.2-0.5 MPa during operation. This is primarily to ensure optimal regeneration performance; a pressure below 0.5 MPa ensures adequate brine adsorption.


    1. During backwashing under excessively high water pressure, if the orifice of the upper water distributor is very large, the resin will expand significantly, easily allowing resin to enter the multi-way valve from the top, leading to resin leakage.


    2. Valve malfunctions can cause unstable water quality. When the water pressure is too high, an unpredictable pressure can form on one side of the multi-way valve, possibly also on the valve plate. This can cause the valve to operate abnormally, or even fail to open or close completely, resulting in water quality that does not meet expectations.


    3. When the water pressure is too high, and the brine needs to be refilled, a large amount of water needs to be added to the brine tank, potentially causing overflow.


    4. When the pressure in the ultrapure water equipment is too high, the salt absorption rate becomes very fast, shortening the regeneration time and failing to achieve the desired regeneration effect.
