By 2020, My Country Will Have Established 30-35 Technical Standard Innovation Bases in Various Fields (Specialties)

Recently, the National Standardization Administration issued a notice regarding the "Overall Plan for the Construction of National Technical Standard Innovation Bases (2017-2020)". According to the notice, by 2020, my country will have established an innovation service platform covering key areas and regions, encompassing the entire process of technical standard development and application; built a number of regional (comprehensive), field (specialized), and international innovation bases; formed several replicable and scalable innovation base operation mechanisms and service models; cultivated and incubated a number of landmark technical standard innovation achievements; optimized the development environment of innovation bases; and improved the working capacity of innovation bases.

The notice indicates that from 2017 to 2020, my country will establish 15-20 regional (comprehensive) innovation bases in national independent innovation demonstration zones, along the domestic routes of the "Belt and Road" initiative, in the upper, middle, and lower reaches of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, and Northeast China; 30-35 field (specialized) innovation bases in modern agriculture, advanced manufacturing, modern service industries, modern energy, important consumer goods, ecological civilization, and cultural construction; and 5-10 international innovation bases focusing on the "going global" of Chinese standards and the development of international standards in important fields.

Among them, advanced manufacturing focuses on areas such as industrial foundation strengthening, next-generation information technology, high-end CNC machine tools, robots, additive manufacturing, aerospace, marine engineering, high-tech ships, advanced rail transit equipment, new energy vehicles, power equipment, agricultural machinery equipment, new materials, biomedicine and high-performance medical devices; important consumer goods focus on areas such as household appliances, consumer electronics, home decoration and renovation products, clothing and apparel products, products for women, children, the elderly and disabled, cosmetics and daily chemical products, cultural, educational, sports and leisure products, traditional cultural products, food and related products.
