The Ministry of Agriculture has established a National Expert Committee on Veterinary Drug Residue and Resistance Control

Recently, the Ministry of Agriculture issued a notice establishing the National Expert Committee on Veterinary Drug Residues and Resistance Control. The committee, composed of 116 experts from the fields of veterinary drugs, feed, fisheries, health, and food, will provide technical support for the advancement of veterinary drug residue control and the prevention and control of antibiotic resistance in animal-derived bacteria.

The National Expert Committee on Veterinary Drug Residues and Resistance Control has two subcommittees: Veterinary Drug Residues and Antibiotic Resistance Control. Under the leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture, it will undertake risk assessments related to veterinary drug residues and antimicrobial resistance, providing risk management and policy recommendations; formulate and revise national standards for veterinary drug residues; establish research projects on antibiotic resistance in animal-derived bacteria; provide professional guidance for veterinary drug residue monitoring, animal-derived bacterial resistance monitoring, and the construction and improvement of the regulatory system; strengthen the supervision of veterinary drug residues; enhance the management of veterinary antimicrobial drugs; and effectively ensure the safety of livestock production, the safety of animal-derived food, public health safety, and ecological environment safety.
