The 13th Five-Year Plan for Medical Device Innovation: Leading Major Cutting-Edge Breakthroughs in Medical Mass Spectrometry and Other Fields

On May 26, in accordance with the overall deployment of the "13th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development of the People's Republic of China," the "13th Five-Year Plan for National Science and Technology Innovation," and the "Healthy China 2030" Plan, the Ministry of Science and Technology formulated and released the "13th Five-Year Plan for Medical Device Science and Technology Innovation" to accelerate the development of the medical device technology industry.

The Plan calls for accelerating the overall transformation of the medical device industry towards innovation-driven development, improving the medical device R&D and innovation chain; breaking through a number of cutting-edge and common key technologies and core components; developing a batch of high-end and mainstream medical devices with high import dependence and urgent clinical needs, as well as intelligent, mobile, and networked products suitable for primary care; launching a batch of application solutions based on domestically produced innovative medical device products; cultivating several leading enterprises with an annual output value exceeding 10 billion yuan and a number of innovative enterprises with strong innovation vitality; significantly improving industrial competitiveness; expanding the market share of domestically produced innovative medical device products; leading the transformation of medical models; and promoting the leapfrog development of my country's medical device industry.

The key tasks are as follows:

(I) Develop cutting-edge key technologies to lead medical device innovation

(II) Promote the research and development of major products and break through bottlenecks in core components

(III) Focus on application demand orientation and strengthen demonstration, popularization, and promotion

(IV) Optimize the layout of platform bases and promote the improvement of innovation capabilities

(V) Gather innovation and entrepreneurship elements to help industrial cluster development
