1. Installation Instructions and Precautions
Before installing the membrane housing, carefully read the instructions. It is recommended that installation be performed by professionals with expertise and operational experience. Follow the instructions and technical practices to assemble the membrane correctly step-by-step. Incorrect installation can damage the membrane housing components or even cause personal injury during operation. Therefore, our company will not be responsible for any adverse consequences caused by failure to follow correct installation requirements.
2. Installation Steps (Taking a side-opening membrane housing as an example)
(1) According to the product drawings, use the saddle and straps to horizontally fix the product to the equipment frame, leaving adequate space for the left and right connecting parts.
(2) Remove the installation components and assemble them. Check that each fastener is tight, and rinse the end caps and the inner wall of the tank with clean water. (3) Apply a suitable amount of glycerin or detergent to the end plate seals, and also apply it to the beveled area inside the membrane housing. This will ensure smooth installation during sealing.
(4) Filter membrane installation generally starts from the inlet end. Push the filter membranes one by one into the membrane housing in the same direction. Apply a little lubricant to the sealing area of the filter membrane. Place the water purification connector in the middle of the membrane core at an average length. Use a wooden mallet to install one end plate. For the other end plate, adjust the gap between the thrust ring and the membrane core after tightening. If the gap is too large, use the provided rubber washer to eliminate it. Finally, install the end plate.
(5) After installing the end plate, place the crescent-shaped retainer in the membrane housing groove and tighten it with the fastening screws.
3. Precautions
(1) Pay attention to protecting the seals when installing the end plates. Ensure the lubricant is applied thoroughly.
(2) Check the tightness of the end plate fasteners and whether the pressure plate and support umbrella are in place.
(3) Inspect the front and rear components to avoid omissions in the installation. (4) Ensure the thrust ring is on the concentrate side.
(5) Check the connecting fittings to ensure they are properly installed.
(6) After all steps are completed, slowly pressurize the membrane module with a high-pressure pump to gradually expel air from the housing. After purging, stop the pump and depressurize. Repeat this process several times to allow the gasket to expand properly.
(7) If leakage occurs, disassemble and reassemble to resolve the issue.
(8) There must be no back pressure at the product's clean water inlet. Use a valve or similar device to block the clean water inlet.

Replacement of Reverse Osmosis Membrane Elements in Pharmaceutical Purified Water Equipment Sometimes, reverse osmosis system inspections, membrane element storage, transportation, or replacement are required. Please follow these steps:
(1) Disconnect the inlet, concentrate, and product water pipes from the pressure vessel and remove the connecting fittings;
(2) Remove the end caps from both ends of the pressure vessel;
(3) Push the membrane element from the inlet end towards the concentrate end until the concentrate end is exposed;
(4) Slowly pull out the membrane element and remove the connecting parts between it and the next membrane element;
(5) Repeat steps (3) and (4). If necessary, a PVC pipe can be used to push the end face of the membrane element from the inlet end;
(6) Place the removed membrane element in a clean plastic bag and fill it with an appropriate amount of sodium bisulfite solution with a concentration of 0.05–0.1%. Seal and store.
III. Storage Method for Reverse Osmosis Membrane Elements in Pharmaceutical Purified Water Equipment To prevent the growth of biological organisms on the membrane surface during storage and the degradation of performance in subsequent operations, the membrane element must be stored in a specially prepared solution. 1. New Membrane Elements
(1) All membrane elements undergo a water flow test before leaving the factory and are stored in a 1% sodium sulfite solution, then vacuum-packed in oxygen-barrier bags;
(2) Membrane elements must always be kept moist. Even when temporarily opened to confirm the quantity of the same package, this must be done without damaging the plastic bag, and this condition should be maintained until use;
(3) Membrane elements are best stored at a low temperature of 5-10℃. When storing in environments exceeding 10℃, choose a well-ventilated location and avoid direct sunlight; the storage temperature should not exceed 35℃;
(4) Membrane elements will physically break if they freeze, so insulation measures must be taken to prevent freezing;
(5) When stacking membrane elements, the packaging boxes should not exceed 5 layers, and the boxes must be kept dry. 2. Used Membrane Elements
(1) Membrane elements must be kept in a dark place at a temperature not exceeding 35°C and protected from direct sunlight.
(2) There is a risk of freezing at temperatures below 0°C, so anti-freezing measures must be taken.
(3) To prevent microbial growth during short-term storage, transportation, and system standby, the elements need to be soaked in a sodium sulfite (food grade) protective solution with a concentration of 500-1000 ppm and a pH of 3-6, prepared with pure water or reverse osmosis permeate.
(4) After soaking the membrane elements in the preservation solution for approximately 1 hour, remove them from the solution, pack them in an oxygen-isolated bag, seal the bag, and label it with the packaging date.
(5) Membrane elements requiring preservation should be repackaged and stored under the same conditions as new membrane elements. (6) The concentration and pH of the preservation solution must be maintained within the above-mentioned range. Regular checks are necessary; if deviations from these ranges occur, the preservation solution must be prepared again.
(7) Under no circumstances should the membrane be allowed to dry out during preservation.
(8) Alternatively, a 0.2-0.3% formaldehyde solution (mass percentage concentration) can be used as the preservation solution. Formaldehyde is a stronger microbial agent than sodium bisulfate and does not contain oxygen.
