What Is Nutshell Filter Media?

This nutshell filter media is made from high-quality hickory nuts, processed through crushing, polishing, steam washing, and chemical treatment, followed by two screening processes. This filter media boasts high hardness, wear resistance, and good compressive strength (23.4 kgF). It is chemically stable, insoluble in acids and alkalis, and exhibits strong adsorption and interception capabilities (27-50% adsorption rate). It is also hydrophilic, oil-resistant, and has a specific gravity of 1.25 g/cm³, slightly greater than water, with a filling density of 0.85 g/cm³. It is easy to backwash and regenerate. Compared to other filter media, its advantages include direct backwashing with pre-filtration water, low operating costs, low backwashing intensity (6.7 L/s·m²), fast filtration speed (24-26 rpm), and good filtration effect. The filter media does not clump or rot, is easily regenerated without replacement, requiring only 5-10% replenishment annually. It is highly effective for treating oilfield wastewater containing moss, achieving 95% oil removal and reducing oil content to below 5 mg/L. After selection by relevant units, the filter media has consistently demonstrated significant effectiveness, making it an ideal filling material for environmental protection equipment.
