Sichuan's First Regional Food and Drug Testing Center Officially Opened for Trial Operation

The Pingwu County Food and Drug Inspection and Testing Center in Sichuan Province was officially established.

The Pingwu County Food and Drug Inspection and Testing Center in Sichuan Province boasts numerous impressive features: direct approval from the National Development and Reform Commission and the State Food and Drug Administration; being among the first in the country and the only one in the province; an investment exceeding ten million yuan; and covering and radiating across six counties. As the only regional food and drug inspection and testing center in Sichuan Province, it will comprehensively undertake the inspection and testing tasks for food, water quality, soil, pesticide residues, veterinary drug residues, and product quality within the region (Pingwu, Beichuan, and Jiangyou cities in Mianyang City; Songpan and Jiuzhaigou counties in Aba Prefecture; and Wenxian County in Gansu Province). "Currently, we are in the trial operation phase and expect to be officially operational as early as the first half of next year!" said Yu Zeyuan, the center's director.

Trial Operation of the Food and Drug Inspection and Testing Center

At the inspection and testing center, various specialized equipment for water and soil, food, and microbial monitoring has been installed, and professional technicians have gradually arrived. From its preparation a year ago to its completion today, the center's biggest feature is the conservation of valuable and limited human and material resources. Pingwu County has resolved issues such as fragmented operations, similar functions, and redundant equipment by integrating the testing institutions under its food and drug administration, industry and commerce bureau, quality supervision bureau, agriculture bureau, and water resources bureau. The configuration of instruments, including ultrapure water systems, fully meets the needs. Furthermore, adhering to the principle of "few but highly efficient," the regional testing center will undertake testing work in six counties and cities, effectively avoiding redundant construction of county-level food testing centers in five surrounding areas.

It is understood that the center's construction received strong support from the provincial and municipal food and drug administrations, with Pingwu providing ample support in terms of organization, funding, personnel, and equipment, striving to build a comprehensive and scientific food and drug regulatory network.
