Ganzi Prefecture in Sichuan Province Is Exploring the Establishment of a System for Opening Scientific Research Facilities and Instruments to the Public

To accelerate the reform of the science and technology system, improve the utilization efficiency of scientific research facilities and instruments, and achieve resource sharing, in accordance with the spirit of the "Implementation Opinions on Opening Major Scientific Research Infrastructure and Large-scale Scientific Instruments to the Public" (Sichuan Provincial Government Document No. 2 [2017]), and in light of the actual conditions in ethnic minority areas, Ganzi Prefecture in Sichuan Province has established a system for opening single sets of scientific instruments and equipment valued at 100,000 yuan or more to the public.

Based on public demand, the first batch of scientific instruments and equipment opened to the public includes an atomic absorption spectrophotometer (graphite furnace), liquid chromatograph, fully automated Kjeldahl nitrogen analyzer, gas chromatograph, and an integrated intelligent system for pure water/ultrapure water.

This initiative can improve the utilization rate of scientific research facilities and enhance testing and detection capabilities; it will also help improve the monitoring level of forestry and agricultural products; and simultaneously provide practical opportunities for students, enriching their extracurricular activities and stimulating their interest in scientific experiments.
