Features of Mechanical Flocculation Tanks in Ultrapure Water Equipment

Table of Content [Hide]

Mechanical flocculation tanks utilize an electric motor driven by a reducer to agitate the water; therefore, the energy consumption of the water flow originates from the power input of the agitator. Coagulation tanks employing mechanical agitation can adjust the agitation intensity according to changes in water volume. Since the agitation intensity of hydraulic coagulation tanks always weakens with increasing water volume, mechanically agitated coagulation tanks are superior to hydraulic coagulation tanks in this respect. Depending on flow rate and overall considerations, the agitator can be arranged horizontally or vertically.

The advantages of mechanical flocculation tanks are that the rotation speed can be adjusted according to changes in water quality and volume to ensure flocculation effect, and they can be applied to water plants of any size. However, the presence of moving mechanical parts increases maintenance work.

Besides the above two types, other types of coagulation tanks include perforated vortex coagulation tanks and grid or bar coagulation tanks.
