Characteristics of Ozone Disinfection

Table of Content [Hide]

    Broad-spectrum disinfection:

According to the 1991 edition of the Ministry of Health's "Disinfection Technical Specifications," section 4.12.2, "Bactericidal Action," ozone is a broad-spectrum disinfectant that can kill vegetative bacteria and spores, viruses, fungi, and can destroy botulinum toxin. Ozone disinfects water faster than chlorine. According to the Ministry of Health's specifications, the selected bacterial species for experimental identification are: vegetative bacteria: Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli; bacterial spores: Bacillus subtilis var. niger; fungi: Candida albicans; and viruses: Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg). High efficiency: Ozone disinfection is rapid; when the concentration exceeds a certain threshold, disinfection can even be completed instantly. Ozone water disinfection is even faster and more effective due to the involvement of OH- ions.

    Ozone produces no residual pollution:

Ozone utilizes its strong oxidizing properties for disinfection without producing harmful byproducts. Residual ozone decomposes into oxygen on its own, thus eliminating residual pollution. This is an unparalleled advantage over other chemical disinfectants. Ozone gas disinfection is a dry, room-temperature process with uniform diffusion, simple and convenient application and control, and is economical.
